EvolvIT News Letter - February 2009

Good Afternoon,

I think we will all agree that this coming year is going to be a tough one, so here at EvolvIT we have been busy investing in our infrastructure to allow us to keep costs down, so we don't have to pass on any price increases to you. It is our custom developed backend systems here at EvolvIT that allow us to respond to our customers in such a fast and dynamic way – and the reason that we can maintain such high up times for our customers systems.

I would like to tell you about a few new features we have brought online over the last couple of weeks, feel free to contact us regarding them if you have any queries.

System Status Lights
Everyone relies very heavily on internet based services, from simple internet access to web hosting. All our Virtual IT customers enjoy the use of our internet based resources hosted in central London. Two years ago we invested very heavily in this equipment and we have all enjoyed the excellent reliability given by that investment. A large proportion of our customers now also enjoy using our ADSL and SDSL services, again invested in by us to ensure that you achieve the high levels of up time you expect. However with all these systems it is important to let you know if we have any reported problems or delays with emails and so we have developed a new status area on the top of every page of our website. www.evolvit.co.uk

You will see quite clearly four lights, with their corresponding descriptions next to them, below is a quick description of what they mean.

Email Queue: All the emails you send and receive are parsed though our equipment, should this queue become large and so cause a delay on sending and receiving – this light will automatically turn amber, if the system becomes extremely overloaded – indicating a fault – it will turn red.

Broadband: Should we have any reports of data loss, or dropped connections from any of the networks we use, we will turn this light amber, it will be turned red should a wide scale disconnection occur.

Web Servers: If any of our hosting servers experience high loads causing web sites to load slower than expected, this light will turn amber, it will turn red should any of our equipment fail completely and websites are unavailable.

Monitoring: As I am sure you are aware we monitor all your networks 24/7 to ensure systems are working when you expect – should we have any problems with our internal support or monitoring systems this light will turn amber, again red means the system is offline.

Live Statistics
Within our Customer Portal, in the same area as the System Status Lights, you can see Live statistics on items such as our current email queue and support ticket requests queue. These are private statistics for our customers only, create a new ticket within the support system (http://www.evolvit.co.uk/client/) to check they work!

Online Ordering Confirmations
Previously if you had wanted to order anything from us, a signed order was required. This archaic way of doing things involved a PDF file being created, emailed to the customer, printed, signed, and finally faxed back to us! Wow how long winded was that! We have streamlined the whole process now so that it can all be done online via our Customer portal. Orders and a link are received via email, and 'signed' off using a unique username and password. Easy! We look forward to receiving your digitally signed orders soon.

Website
We are continually updating our website with new content about us, what we do, and new FAQ (frequently asked questions). Make sure you check us out at www.evolvit.co.uk to see what we are up to!

Thanks for reading, catch up with you all soon,
