If your business currently has Small Business Server 2011 or older then this information is vital to your ongoing IT infrastructure planning. Or if your business is growing and you are looking to invest in a server then please take note.
Microsoft has decided not to release any newer versions of Small Business Server.
If you currently have a server which requires upgrading or you require a new server due to its age and want to save money in the long run but also maintain the same functionality and reliability that you presently enjoy, you may want to consider upgrading to SBS 2011 before it is discontinued.
By upgrading to the latest SBS 2011, you will have a further 5 to 6 years before you need to deal with deciding on an alternative.
Microsoft's long term plan points to the Cloud as being the solution, and in many cases this is a good option for a small business. The new Windows Server 2012 Essentials is designed to integrate with Office 365 to provide small businesses with the on-site server, but with cloud hosted Exchange email. Cloud based services are not, however, ideal for many, either due to a lack of internet bandwidth, data protection/compliance issues or their lack of customization. Having the full Exchange Server product on-site has given small businesses flexibility and customization which is not possible in the cloud where one configuration tends to fit all. For these businesses, the solution will probably be a new virtualized server.
Many end-users cannot feasibly use Cloud based solutions either: Broadband Internet in the UK is developing rapidly with faster fibre connections, however many UK sites still do not have the functionality to host fibre broadband and therefore will still be limping by with very slow Internet connections. The end result is that many businesses will struggle to use cloud based run server tools.
Due to this change demand for SBS 2011 has become very high in the last few months and the availability of this software is very limited across the UK as businesses purchase. Anyone looking to upgrade servers in the near future are advised to upgrade sooner rather than later to avoid adding on ££££'s to the cost. Those businesses running SBS 2003 in particular which has now ceased support and requires upgrading are advised to consider migrating ASAP to avoid this additional cost, as in most cases it will require a new server.
Here at EvolvIT we are very experienced with Microsoft server upgrades and server installations. We have undertaken many migrations from SBS 2003 to 2008/2011 along with brand new server installs. Please feel free to talk to us about upgrading your current server on 0845 880 4554 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
At the time of writing this article we could only find a handful of SBS 2011 in stock in the UK at predictably inflated prices so time really is of the essence.
Please see an online article below also relating to this:
We would like to thank all those who supported us during our charity golf challenge – 4 rounds in one day was a tough call but all in a good cause for Macmillan. Big thanks also to Weston Golf club and Worlebury Golf club for supporting us during the day. Local press release link below,
You may have read at the end of last year we introduced a review system for all tickets closed and resolved for our clients. Thank you to all who have given feedback, we are averaging over 9.8 out of 10 stars since the system started. In May I am pleased to announce we received a perfect 10 out of 10 across the month for all staff on all support cases reviewed.
Please keep leaving feedback (positive and negative), as it helps us further refine our systems so that we can continue to deliver the best service to all our clients.
Thanks again for using EvolvIT
Dave H and his wife are pleased to announce the safe arrival of their first baby Oliver. We are pleased to say that mum and baby are all well.

Of course if you need any assistance or advice all our normal channels are fully open.
Feel free to send Thom an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to say hi and welcome him to our team.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the team here at EvolvIT.
It has been a real pleasure supporting you through 2013 and we look forward to continuing that support during what we hope will be a prosperous 2014 for all.
Please note we close on Tuesday 24th December at 5:00pm and reopen again on Thursday 2nd January 2014. If you are a Virtual IT client then your systems will continue to be monitored throughout this period and we ask that if support is required during this time you make full use of our web based support facility. Should you be trading during this period and require support please provide us with your opening times so we can ensure we have provision to deal with your support requests. We will have a member of staff available on our usual phone number for the 28th, 30th and 31st should you require support during normal hours. Those customers who have emergency mobile contacts or are covered by an out of hours contract please call as normal, if the call is unanswered please leave a message and we will return your call as soon as possible.
All that remains is to view our highly anticipated 2013 version of the EvolvIT Christmas video via the picture below.
Very best wishes

We must be doing something right, wine from BS8 digital will go down nicely this Christmas. Thanks guys.
On a recent trip onsite to Advertising Services Ltd, Dave B had a mo-off with two members of staff. The results are a bit worrying...
Today we have released an update to our in house support system. When we successfully close a ticket you will have the option of leaving us feedback on the work done with an ‘out of ten’ star rating. Gaining feedback from our clients is important for us to continue to maintain our high standards of support.

Over the last few weeks we have been working with Chase Templeton to bring over sets of data from businesses they are acquiring as a part of their growth strategy. This bespoke exporting, converting and importing has to be prepared and completed in extremely tight timescales - working into the small hours or over weekends is not uncommon.
So it is always nice when you receive a mystery package in the post to find 6 bottles of wine to say thanks.
Thanks Chase Templeton, when is the next acquisition, we are getting thirsty already!
We are pleased to introduce our latest member of staff, Graham Barbe. Graham began working with us this month as a software and database developer. Graham has extensive experience as an IT professional in both development and support roles, has recently graduated with a degree from Open University and was the lead writer and editor for two 164 page publications “The Essential Guide to Mac OS X Lion” and “The Essential Guide to Windows 8”..
Feel free to send Graham an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to say hi and welcome him to our team.
We have now changed offices from Hawkfield way to: Castlemead, Lower Castle Street, Bristol, BS1 3AG
Best Wishes, EvolvIT

Due to Peninsula EvolvIT Ltd hosting contract with Rackspace, trees will be planted in the UK and overseas. This will help towards neutralising the carbon emissions created by the server/s:
